Ever wonder what a Rick Steves adventure in Europe is like?
We got to find out on the 13 day London to Florence adventure. I'm Erin. This is me with Dan, Abigail (14, left) and Grace (12, right)- in Trafalgar Square in London!! L O N D O N !!!! When we're not in London, which is most of the time, we live in north Seattle (Lake Forest Park) with our fuzzy golden retriever Captain. And we LOVE to travel. But, besides Dan, we've never been to Europe. It wasn't for lack of trying. Our plans for an adventure in Italy in 2020 were derailed (way derailed) when the whole world shut down for a few years. But as luck would have it, Dan's parents, Jim and Darlene, also dreamed of taking a family trip (with us and also my husband's sister Lindsey and her family), on a true bucket-list adventure in Europe. All 10 of us exploring the world! They agonized over which trip to choose (there are a TON of options, all of them spectacular), and we were open to every.single.one of them. Eventually they landed on the 13 day, European family, London to Florence experience. Perfection! We were so excited to experience all that Europe has to offer!! At least - all that it has to offer in two weeks - and... it's a WHOLE LOT. Here's Captain
(He was 100% not invited to adventure with us). Sorry buddy! This would be Jim and Darlene's second Rick Steves tour (the two of them enjoyed the Scotland tour immensely and knew how seamless it would be for the 10 of us to travel together). We gratefully (gleefully, joyfully) accepted the offer, as did Dan's sister and her family: Lindsey, Chris, Caitin (13), and Coll (10). Here we are with them in London, eating Indian Food in Brick Lane.
We were signed up the day the tours opened and then we spent a year being excited about the upcoming trip, talking about it, studying up on the cities we'd see and the places we'd visit, planning for take-off... and praying that covid would not derail our plans. This is going to be the first time in Europe for me and the kids, I'm pleased to take you along!!! |
